SPECIAL EVENTS
BSSA TURKEY SHOOT
the annual turkey shoot was a great success, as it usually is. thanks to Jerry Wright for getting all the turkeys ready and willing to be given out to the winners. Thanks also to everyone that helped to score, load the trap houses and set up the pattern boards. Special thanks to Cliff and Dan for getting all the pistol shooters squared away, that event drew some very good pistol marksmen. Both the trap and pistol events were very well organized and very well attended. We hope to see everyone back next year!!
The annual pot luck as usual was well stocked with some great dishes and fabulous deserts! thanks to Phyllis for putting it all together, and as usual Dennys green chili stew was the hit of the day, thanks Denny and we can’t wait til next year for more of that stew!

YOUTH SPORTS SECTION

My name is Dalli Cain, and I am from Mountainair, NM. I am currently a sophomore at New Mexico State University. I am majoring in biochemistry and plan to go to medical school to be an anesthesiologist.
I started shooting trap and light rifle in 8th grade, and I fell in love with it. I enjoyed it because of the people I met and how helpful everyone was. No matter where I turned, there was always someone willing to support me. It also didn’t hurt that I was pretty good at it.
Shooting can open many doors, there are tons of shooting organizations out there. I have won many buckles and saddles throughout my shooting career. My accomplishments include:
2020
National High School Rodeo 10th Place Light Rifle Shooter
2021
NM High School Rodeo State Champion Trap Shooter, Reserve Champion Light Rifle Shooter
National High School Rodeo 4th Place Light Rifle Shooter
2022
NM High School Rodeo State Champion Light Rifle Shooter, Reserve Champion Trap Shooter
National High School Rodeo 11th Place Light Rifle Shooter
National High School Rodeo 19th Place Trap Shooter
2023
NM High School Rodeo Reserve Champion Light Rifle Shooter
National High School Rodeo 8th Place Light Rifle Shooter
My advice to women or girls who want to start shooting is to not be intimidated by those who know more than you. I know so many girls who are better than the guys, and they started out not knowing anything about the sport. When I first started, I was terrified, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and found a new passion! Don’t be afraid to try something new.Hello World!
